50 word story (man on the side - John Mayer)

John Mayer loves a girl.  The only problem is she loves someone else.  He keeps Calling, she never answers.  She won't fit him into her "busy" schedule.  He'd do anything for her, and if she only knew how much he cared, maybe he wouldn't have written a song about it.

The Impulse II

I think it'd be kinda cool to start with this part.

M:  Fiance?
W:  Yeah! crazy huh?
M:  Wait...but..but when?
W:  Just like a week ago!
M:  Oh...well...hmm...uh...
W:  Eww...you're sweaty.
M:  Am not! it's just really, really hot.  Is it not?
W:  um...no not really...It's snowing.  I can't feel my face
M:  Oh....right. yeah i guess it is, isn't it.
W:  Stop being weird.  You're all twitchy and stuff.
M:  Well I don't mean to be.  I just..am way happy for you...yep that's it.
W:  Well even if you are twitchy and sweaty it was so good to see you!  Don't be a stranger kay?  Let's catch up again soon!
M:  Ok, um, yeah sure!
W:  Bye!

Song Lyrics: Jason Aldean - Amarillo Sky

He gets up before the dawn
Packs a lunch and a thermos full of coffee
It's another day in the dusty haze
Those burnin' rays are wearing down his body
And diesel's worth the price of gold
And it's the cheapest grain he's ever sold
But he's still holding on

CHORUS
He just takes the tractor another round
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer
He says Lord I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dream run dry
Underneath, Underneath this
Amarillo sky

That hail storm back in '83
Sure did take a toll on his family
But he stayed strong and carried on
Just like his dad and grandad did before him
On his knees every night he prays
Please let my crops and children grow
Cause that's all he's ever known

CHORUS
He just takes the tractor another round
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer
He says Lord I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dream run dry
Underneath, Underneath this
Amarillo sky

And he takes the tractor another round
Another round, another round
And he takes the tractor another round
Another round
He says I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dreams run dry
Underneath, underneath this
Amarillo Sky

Underneath this
Amarillo sky

The Impulse

A man passes his high school girlfriend on a crowded street in a large city.  They haven't seen each other in 10 years, and to see each other is probably destiny, or something like that.

M:  (Generic girl name)? Is that you?
W:  O my gosh! (Generic boy name)!!!!
M:  It's so good to see you!  It's been...what? like 9 or 10 years?
W:  (Laughs) Yeah something like that.  What kept us from staying in touch for that long?!
M:  Just Life I guess...I've been so busy..that's no excuse though, I'm sorry...
W:  Don't be!  It's just as much my fault as it is yours.  Let's just be happy that it's happening now.
M:  (Laughs) Ok that sounds good to me!
W:  So what brings you to (generic large city)?
M:  I'm actually here on business.  I know it's crazy but I took that big corporate job, and now I guess I'm a part of the system.
W:  Yikes! That's no good...what do you do?
M:  Well right now I just work for a guy, who works for a guy, who works for the CEO's secretary.  Did you get all that?
W:  Let me think...um...so you're kissing ass for a living?
M:  Haha i knew you'd catch on! Hey it's kinda cold out.  Do you maybe wanna maybe get out of the snow and come get something to eat with me?
W:  Ah.  I wish i could!  I'm sorry.. I'm meeting my fiance at somewhere at 9.
M:  Fiance?
W:  Yeah! After two years he finally had the nerve to ask!
M:  Wow...that's um...that's great..
W:  (laughs) Don't act too excited.
M:  ha. yeah. Well hey I guess I better let you go then..
W:  Yeah I guess so! It was so good to see you!
M:  Yeah you too..

Bad Poetry

Good Morning

Verse 1:
Waffles are fun.
I eat them sometimes when I am sad.
Waffles never taste bad.
They taste good with maple syrup.

Chorus:
Ooh yeah
Ooh yeah
Let's all get together
Ooh yeah
Ooh yeah
Let's all get together
For Breakfast.

Verse 2:
French Toast ooh yeah
I like powdered sugar
and you do too.
So let's eat it. baby yeah.

Chorus:
Ooh yeah
Ooh yeah
Let's all get together
Ooh yeah
Ooh yeah
Let's all get together
For Breakfast.

Final Verse:
Breakfast is over.
Tears fill my eyes.
It ended so soon.
What a surprise.

Chorus:
Ooh yeah
Ooh yeah
Breakfast is over.
Ooh yeah
But Don't you worry.
We'll all get together.
For Lunch.

Shake the Dust

This one is for the dreamers...This is for the unemployed and the underemployed.  For the middle aged man who still lives at home.  Shake the dust.  This is for the the broken hearts and the hearts who broke 'em.  This is for the rainy days and the monday mornings.  For the guy who loves the girl who loves the guy's best friend.  This is for the freshman.  This is for the prisoner and the bars that hold him in.  Shake the dust.  This is for Bleecker Street...This is for the beggar's and the choosers and the beggars who can't be choosers.  For the girl who peaked in high school.  shake The DUST.  This is for the dust. Shake the dust.  This is for every starbucks writer who sips their de-caf knowing that their voice will never be heard.  This is for the end of the bench.  For the man on the side.  Shake the dust. Shake The Dust. SHAKE THE DUST.  Make Life what you want it to be.  To the dreamers , keep on dreaming. To the believers, keep on believing. And to the lovers, keep on loving because life doesn't give second chances.  Shake life for all it's worth, and don't stop shaking.

Direct Order

YOU have been given direct orders to rock out.  Rock out like you were too quick for the cops to catch.  Like you were given one chance. one song. on a stage, with thousands upon thousands of people screaming your name.  Rock out like Wake me up Before you Go-go just came on 96.3! Rock out like Bozung is subbing for your A.P. Stats class!  Rock out like somewhere there's a street paved with bubbles.  Rock out like it's your very last moment with your limbs.... Rock out like you're 7 years old and you're friend's having a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's......Rock out like you're 7 years old!  Rock out like you're on bended knee in a cold sweat and she just said the best word in the English language.  Rock out like your favorite band just opened for YOU!  Rock out like....like coach just called your name.  Rock out like you don't care that it's just for the last 30 seconds of the game.  Rock out like Summer Finn woke up in YOUR bed this morning.  Rock out like the sun's shining bright, and you've got nothing better to do, than put your boat on the water.  Rock out like a genie granted you FOUR wishes.  Rock out like you are a freakin' genie....Rock out like college football is on all day, and you and your buddies got some Little Caesars pizza, a fridge pack of Dr. Pepper, and some time to kill.  Rock out like you've never rocked out before, because in a few seconds, this blog entry will be over.

I'm thinking about you

I'm thinking about you.  I'm thinking about you like thoughts think about thinking.  Like ships think about sinking. Like drunks think about drinking.  I'm thinking about you like birds think about flight, and candles think about light.  I'm thinking about you like the clouds think about rain.  Like anger thinks about pain.  Like artists think about pain-ting.  I'm thinking about you like clocks think about time and poems think about rhyme. I'm thinking about you like phones think about call.  Like the net thinks about about the ball.  Sometimes I wonder...Do you think about me at all?...Because I'm thinking about you...

Love is...

10.  Love is...FIRE
  9.  Love is...a ferris wheel.  If you stay on it too long it gets SUPER boring.
  8.  Love is...a broken string.
  7.  Love is...Rain, and sometimes..it's better to stay inside.
  6.  Love is...a treehouse
  5.  Love is...music.  Read between the lines and spaces and you may find something beautful.
  4.  Love is...a freeway with no exits.
  3.  Love is...a lighthouse
  2.  Love is...a record stuck on repeat.
  1.  Love is...a bus stop.

Introduction

Hey Everybody!

This is my introduction to creative writing.  I took this class for a whole bunch of reasons.  With help from this class I really want to grow as a writer.  I play and write music and I really feel like I have trouble getting what I feel on paper.  I'm afraid to put my thoughts and feelings out in the open and allow people to take a walk inside my head.  It scares me, and I hope that through this class I can get more comfortable telling people how I really feel and showing everyone the real me.  One day I hope to be able to apply my musical and writing talents to a career.  It's something I really enjoy and I'd love to be able to do it for a living.  Some of my interests include playing and writing music, basketball, football, and really any kind of sport.  I like being with friends and partying it up!  I chose the pen name Syd Barrett because he is the founding member of Pink Floyd.  Aside from him founding one of my favorite bands, he also was kicked out of the band after just 2 records.  I've always been fascinated by his songwriting and his insanity.  I'm excited to write under this alias and I'm just way psyched for the upcoming year!
